Couple of congratulations

Two small congratulations. Firstly to my baby sister (who is pregnant) and turns 27 today.

And secondly to Mark and Becky, who were here last month, who have got engaged. Some of the snippets of our MSN conversation at 430 this morning...

"its a cooked meal for the rest of my days and a clean shirt mate"

"she wanted me to ask so i did"

"will be good mate at least have a stag do to plan and a wedding drinking session"

"i asked mate thats the main thing"

"best bit mate getting presents"

Smooth, Mark. Very smooth. Just thought i'd add that. Who said there was no romance in Pboro? We're just not quite as good at it as some of these French types thats all!!!

Anyway guys. Congratulations. See you in a week for a celebratory drink.

Mr Not Anonymous. Not sure what part of the world you are from, but it is clearly not the eastern counties. Where we come from, that is considered the height of romance! However, your comments perhaps go some way to explaining my "success" with the women of the Midlands...

well Mr Not Anonymous. Put it this way. With my history with certain accents in the north of England (i am thinking McDonalds in the rain) i dont think i'd even understand some accents... that lovely Scottish Lorraine Kelly voice though... hmmm. maybe. Would it be enough to overcome the fact that it is still, in fact, Lorraine Kelly?.. After a couple of beers...

I felt like a foreigner just being there...

i was tempted to refer to the general gingerness of the population there, but thought i'd better be careful!.. i remember specifically you pointing out the ethnic differences between the streets of your town and my Birmingham... Irish being one of them, but i am sure there were others...

I'll be keeping a closer eye out on my next visit though... weird how the 'joke' WAS completely true. There is no time of the day or night when a similar thing would occur in Birmingham!!
