T = 25
Just 25 days to go.. thats how long it is until i leave the everyday dull work of my job in Birmingham, and trace my way over to a far off place...
With 25 days to go, scribble would be disappointed that i dont know the tax rate in Canada, the cost of a loaf of bread, the prime minister's name, the winner of the last big brother or whether when i say i want a car with a 'stickshift', they'll have a clue what I am talking about. That is weird. All the things i take as fairly standard knowledge over here, I am going to have to try and learn again. That will be fun though too...
I am off to Toronto to be an accountant! How dull is that? Well, upon reflection, and inspired by the fact that our HR teams want staff to write exciting job descriptions for would be future accountants, i have reflected on this... in my job in the last year i have been paid to dress up in a dust free space type suit to inspect satellite fuel tanks, count cars in a field, build lego houses for a team building game, race 11 year olds round canon hill park in the promotion of healthy living, give lectures at uni, spend a day a month with 15 year olds at school discussing as many career options as possible which avoid accountancy... and this week i am being paid to go on a roller coaster in a theme park, again all in the name of team building. Hmmmm. when i look at it like that, maybe its not going to be so dull after all. And I'm told Canada has been voted the best place in the world to live for the last 7 years.
25 days.. and counting
